Ten Thought Tuesday: June 16th 2015

1.  I started week 5 of the C25K running program this morning.  It felt great!

2.  Charles has recently discovered how to remove his diaper (which he only wears at night now).  After waking up in a wet bed a couple of times, I started putting a washable diaper cover (with snap buttons) over his disposable nighttime diaper.  So far, it has worked well.

3.  I’m thinking of opening an Etsy shop in September.  Right now, I’m working on getting a few samples ready for a giveaway so that I can determine a pricing and see if opening a shop would be worthwhile or not.

4.  I finished Dragon Age: Inquisition about a week ago.  I really liked it, but found that it was hard to understand what the main quest was (it took me 20h of play before I figured it out).  Now I restarted Dragon Age: Origins, and plan on buying and playing Dragon Age 2 so I can replay Inquisition.

5.  I started watching Dr. Who a while back on Netflix and am really enjoying it.

6.  Now that Amélie can pull herself up, she is almost only content when she is on her feet.

7.  Tonight, we’re eating chicken fried rice.  What are you having for supper?

8.  Yesterday, we had salmon and Charles asked for seconds.  Seconds!  I never thought I’d ever get him to like salmon, but it seems to have happened.

9.  Despite the fact that he hasn’t used it often, Charles has become really quite good with his balance bike and can go for longer distances now.

10.For those of you who are curious, this is what Amélie’s zombie drag looks like.

Ten Thought Tuesday…On A Wednesday

  1. Haven’t posted in a while, too many things going on.  I decided I could muster 5 minutes of free time to get on a write a bit.
  2. Amélie is now officially mobile.  She’s doing this sort of drag-crawl thing which is interesting to watch, but it gets the job done.
  3. Spring is now definitely here.  We’ve been enjoying some awesome weather, BBQed food, eating on the balcony and going out without coats.  Woot!
  4. Charles is pretty much fully potty trained during the day now.  We don’t have to sit him on the toilet anymore, he either asks to go or just goes.  When we’re busy, he goes on his potty by himself now and when we’re not he asks for help to get on the big toilet with the ring.
  5. We got his balance bike a couple of weeks ago and he’s been enjoying.  We ended up buying a Kinderbike Laufrad and are very pleased with it.  I am planning on writing a more detailed post on it soonish.
  6. I’ve discovered a new love for quinoa recently.  I’ve come to enjoy how versatile it is.  I really like it for breakfast, served warm in coconut milk with some cinnamon and berries.  How do you like your quinoa?
  7. Charles is so very clumsy.  If he doesn’t fall at least 5 times during the day, it’s a miracle.
  8. Tonight, we’re eating black bean and quinoa (because, why not 😉 ) burritos.  I’ve never had anything other than ground beef in tacos/burritos so I’m eager to see how everything will come together.
  9. We recently bought and Xbox One and I’ve been enjoying Dragon Age: Inquisition.  The only thing that annoys me is that we have to install the games onto the hard drive to play.
  10. I can’t wait to get our veggie garden up and running.  We bought carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, hot peppers, bell peppers and snap peas as well as some herbs.

Ten Thought Tuesday: 10/03/15

1.  Wow, I feel like it’s been forever since I’ve done one of these.

2.  Bear with me, I’m still trying to find a balance between crocheting, baking and blogging.  I’m thinking I may decide to blog on fixed days just to help me get back into a rhythm.

3.  The weather is finally getting warmer around here.  We’re up on in the pluses (just barely) for a couple of days this week.  It’s a welcome change from the frigid months we’ve been having.

4.  The changing weather has gotten me primed for Spring/Summer sports.  I want to buy a balance bike for Charles so I’ve been reading quite a bit to see which one would be best for him.  Do you have any suggestions?

5.  Following my post on winter car seat safety, I reinstalled the base for the bucket seat in both cars and, following one of the tips I’d read, I tried getting the toddler in his seat without his coat.  To my surprise, it actually wasn’t all that bad and he actually prefers it that way (I no longer hear him whine that he’s too hot!) so I’m going to keep my kids out of coats during winter in the future.

6.  Amélie has been rather miserable the past two days.  Her top teeth are just about to cut, so I can’t really blame her.

7.  Speaking of teeth, and what they’re used for, the little miss is ROCKING solids!  Let me tell you, she knows exactly where it goes and she is not happy when we sit her in her chair without food.  So far, she’s had steamed broccoli, cucumber “fries”, applesauce (on a loaded spoon which she grabs), avocado, banana and toast strips.

8.  Now that baby girl can stay in a seated position unassisted for long periods of time, I have started bathing her with her brother in the big tub (no worries, I always have a hand on her).  The first time they went in together, Charles was so happy and he remained calm for as long as his sister was sitting beside him.

9.  This Sunday, we are going to a sugar shack (yum!).  Now that Charles isn’t as allergic to dairy (the only thing we have to still steer clear of is fresh milk), it’ll be even funner than the first time we went.

10.  There are only two classes left in Charles’ winter swim session :(.  When the new session starts, both he and his sister will be taking lessons (Charles is old enough to be in the water without parents now).  And after seeing how happy baby girl was in the tub, I can’t wait to see how she’ll be in the pool!

Happy Tuesday!
