Questions and Answers

Cheila over at Pink for Days posted questions for her readers on her blog.  She encouraged us to reply in her comments section, but I decided to be a rebel and post my answers here.  I’ve written about most of these things on my blog anyways over the years (gosh, that makes me sound old).

  1. What is your first name?  Sophie
  2. Do you have a middle name? Nope
  3. Can you tell me your age and birthday? I’m 32.  My birthday is in the first week of December (bonus points for anyone who figures out when exactly – it’s in my blog…somewhere).
  4. Where in the world are you? I’m in Eastern Canada
  5. What is your maternal language? What language do you speak at home? Do you speak any other languages? My maternal language is French.  I also speak English (duh).
  6. Are you married? If so, how many years? Did you have a big wedding? I am!  It’ll be a year on May 21st.  We had a very small wedding.  As far as I remember, there were 21 of us including, myself, my husband and our two kids (because I was pregnant with Elliot at the time).
  7. Are you single? Do you have a boyfriend? if so, how many years have you been together?  Though my husband and I have been married less than a year, we’ve been together almost 10.
  8. Are you a mom or dad? How many babes do you have? Can you tell me their first names or nicknames and ages?  I’m a mom to three beautiful littles.  Charles (4), Amélie (2.5) and Elliot (9 months).
  9. What do you do for a living?  You mean when I’m not on maternity leave?  Ha!  I’m a special ed teacher in high school.
  10. What did you study in University? Did you attend?  I studied…wait for it…Education!
  11. What’s your favorite book?  Do I really have to pick one?  Hum: Le Petit Prince, The Harry Potter series and the His Dark Materials series are among my favourites.
  12. What’s your favorite movie? I really enjoy Les Choristes.
  13. What is your favorite band or artist? I love Mauvais Sort.  I also enjoy The Civil Wars.
If we’re talking instrumental, I’d go with James Galaway or Jean-Pierre Rampal (two amazing flutists).
  14. What is your favorite food? Oh sushi!  Definitely sushi.
  15. Do you have any hobbies?  Too many.  Gaming, crochet, running, reading, blogging, baking…
  16. What sports/activities do you practice?  I run and do some at-home crossfit-like workouts.
  17. Do you have any pets? Can you tell me their names?  Sadly no.  We had leopard geckos before having kids.  I’ve talked my husband into letting me have a dog once all our kids are in school.
  18. What time is it for you right now?  Right now, it’s 5:17pm.  But this post is scheduled for 8am tomorrow (March 27th).
  19. Why do you blog? I blog to connect with others, to comment, exchange ideas, empty my too-full mind, share the craziness that comes with having three young kiddos.  I also love writing.
  20. What do you love about blogging? Is there something you don’t like?  I love commenting and replying to comments others take the time to write.  I’m not sure if there’s anything I don’t like about blogging.

So, there you have it.  Now you all know a little more about me!

Do you have a question for me?  Leave it in the comments section and I’ll gladly answer.  If anyone else would like to post their answers to these 20 questions (or a selection of them), feel free to link your post.

One Lovely Blog Award

one-lovely-blog-award

I was recently nominated by wonderful Elizabeth over at The Comfortable Coop to receive this award.  If you’ve never been by her blog, I really urge you to take a look.  It’s filled with loveliness, yummyness, funnyness and all of the other cool “ness” words you can think of (or make up).

So there, thank you Elizabeth!

Now, as is the case with all of the blogging awards I’ve seen around, this one has rules.  Namely:

  1. Thank the person who nominated you and leave a link to their blog
  2.  Post about the award. Share 7 facts about yourself.
  3.  Nominate, AT MOST, 15 people.
  4. Tell your nominees the good news!

7 facts about myself

  1.  This song is always guaranteed to put me in a good mood.

2.    The book that I’ve read the most often in my life is Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s Le Petit Prince.

Yes, this is an actual picture of my book.  As you can tell, it’s been well loved.

3.  I don’t kill bugs.  Not even spiders.  Not even when they’re in the house.  I either let them be or relocate them.  In fact, I’ve been known to go out of my way to save a drowning spider in my tub or an earthworm chillin’ behind one of the tires of my vehicle on a rainy day.

4.  I’ve have the unfortunate experience of sitting on the toilet with the seat up in the middle of the night.  I’ve also had the unfortunate experience of sitting on the toilet with the potty ring still on in the middle of the night.  Come to think of it, I’ve also that the unfortunate experience of sitting on the toilet with the cover closed whilst really having to pee in the middle of the night.

In case you were wondering (’cause, duh, of course you were) I’m talking about this specific potty ring.

5.  I got married last May at my house.  I was 36 weeks pregnant with Elliot.  There were a total of 20 people including my husband, two children and myself.

Here I am with my dad, my sister and my brother.

6.  The only reliable method I’ve found to stop biting my nails is to put nail polish on them.  Which reminds me, I really should be putting some on right about now.

7.  I’ve only been out of the country (Canada) three times.  Once when our family moved from Alberta to Québec and my dad drove through the US to save us from the boring sights of the Prairies.  Once when I went to France and Belgium on a trip with my school band.  Once when I went to New York for 4 day with my mom and her friend when Charles was 9 months old (which, by the way, was the WORST idea ever given that I was still nursing and ended up being super engorged for the whole trip).

Here are the bloggers I nominate for this award

  1. A Little Something Extra is a wonderful blog about a mama who has a beautiful and lively 2 year old with T21.
  2. Bucket List Publications Just wow.  Lesley decided to live life as she wanted to.  She has been to over 50 countries over the World and isn’t even close to stopping.  The pictures she posts of her experiences make me want to be right there with her.
  3. Fibromy-Awesome is written by a 30-something year old who has been dealt a nasty hand of cards (Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) in life.  Her posts are full of thought and always an interesting read.  Plus, she also doesn’t kill spiders.
  4. Living Lighter in Atlanta is written by Valerie, an amazing woman, homeschooling mom of 4 kids (well, actually, she homeschools 3 of them because her fourth is 7 months old) and super organized minimalist.  She has become a true friend over the years and is the one who “showed me the ropes” when I started blogging a little over 4 years ago.
  5. My Caffeinated Chaos is written by a mom of 4 who brings the funnies to my days.
  6. Raising 5 Kids With Disabilities and Remaining Sane Blog: I know, it’s quite a mouthful to say, but this blog is really worth reading (as is her book!).

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Ten Thought Tuesday: Bleached House Edition

TTT

  1. I haven’t been very good at this blogging thing lately so I thought I’d ease back in with a Ten Thought Tuesday.
  2. I DO have a good reason for not writing much though.  Between my job, my two littles and the end of my first trimester (yup, we’re gonna have another little one!) I’ve been completely tired.
  3. Plus, we just got hit with a “lovely” bout of gastroenteritis.  Oh yeah… So today I’m working on disinfecting the house with my friends bleach and water.
  4. The good news is that Christmas is just around the corner.   Little Dude is pretty excited (and was wise enough to ask for something different to everyone who asked him what he wanted).
  5. No snow so far though :(.  Plus on Chirstmas Eve we’re set to hit temps of 15 Celcius.  Thank you El Nino…
  6. I’m really looking forward to seeing the new Star Wars.  I’ve heard that it is wonderful.  Anyone wanna babysit my littles?
  7. I’m also looking forward to some alone time with my partner (and soon-to-be hubby – we’re getting married in May!).  We’re off to a spa for three days after Christmas.
  8. Amélie finally got her surgery to remove the dermoid cyst that she had over her right eye about a month ago.  Everything went very smoothly and the staff at the Montreal Children’s Hospital was fabulous.
  9. Oh, and since we’re expecting another baby, we also decided to upgrade one of our vehicles.  Despite saying that I’d never have one, I am now the (pretty proud) owner of a minivan.  Never say never folks.
  10. My partner and I just discovered a new series on Netflix.  We are thoroughly enjoying Psych which gets us laughing every time.

How have you all been?
