Ten Thought Tuesday: March 21st

TTT

  1. I want to take the time to thank three amazing bloggers for some award nominations.  Valerie, Cheila and Tami nominated me for the Liebster, Cramm and Blogger Recognition Award respectively.  I haven’t had time to post yet, but I’m working on them!
  2. I just realized that Elliot hit the 9 month mark yesterday.  How did that happen?
  3. Today, we’ve got a packed morning.  We’re in need of changing the windows to our house so my husband and I are going window shopping (quite literally ha!) after driving the kids to daycare.
  4. Tomorrow is Elliot’s 9 month well visit.  I really love his doctor (who’s actually not a pediatrician but my GP).  She’s fantastic and has taken Charles and Amélie as well.  I am very happy because I’ve never been satisfied with the previous pediatrician.
  5. Last weekend, Charles went to a sugar shack with my sister and her boyfriend.  He slept over at her place on Friday evening, then, the next day, took the subway and a coach bus to get there.  He was ecstatic because he loves the guy so much!

Hard to tell who’s happiest to be there!
  6. I just ordered a steam mop to replace the Swiffer and traditional mop we have.  I am ridiculously excited over the purchase and can’t wait to try it out.  I’m certain it’ll make my life a lot easier.
  7. On Sunday I ran my first transition run.  Considering I ran twice as long as I should have by accident, it went really well.  I was following the advice to run at 180 strides per minute, but will have to tone it down as it is too quick to be a sustainable pace for me currently.  I have to say though, my calves were on fire yesterday and they’re still sore today.  I’m eager to see how today’s run will go.

Notice the funky shape of the shoes? That’s what makes them so comfortable! No more scrunched up toes.
  8. I’m not sure what I want to eat for supper tonight.  What are you guys eating?
  9. I had my first taste of matcha tea on Sunday.  It was peach-flavoured, it was iced and it was yummy!  I’m seriously considering buying some to make at home.
  10. Over the weekend, we went to the library to get some new books.  I’m so happy because I’m rediscovering my love of reading.  I picked up the second tome of the Deathnote manga.  What are you currently reading?

What’s on your mind this Tuesday?  Feel free to comment of link up to a random thought post of your own!

How to Make Your Toddler Happy and Sleepy

You know it’s going to be a good day when the dada gets up with the kiddo so that the mama can sleep in a little bit.

You know it’s going to be an even better day when you wake up (after sleeping in) to the dada making a big breakfast for all of the occupants in the house.

You know it’s going to be an awesome day when you can eat said breakfast on the balcony ’cause at 7:30 am it’s cool enough yet warm enough to eat outside without freezing your butt off in just shorts and a T-shirt.

Sure enough, we had a wonderful day.

By 9am the dada, the kiddo and myself were out the door and in the car heading to the mall.  We both had some clothes to buy – well, actually, my partner actually needed some pants, whereas I decided I needed that cute dress I saw after finding a pair of leggings I actually did need (but it’s all good ’cause I’m pregnant, so I’m allowed to decide that I spontaneously need something, right?).  We also went to take a look in the LEGO store and bought a summer hat for Charles ’cause the hats he has left are either too small or too big (my MIL seems to think that Little Dude is bigger than he is – oh well, they’ll fit him fine in a year…or two 😉 ) Before heading home, we went to Home Depot to grab some paint samples for the little guy’s big boy room and some mulch and dirt for the vegetable garden.  We then stopped for some lunch and went to the grocery store to pick up a few things for supper.

Let me tell you, the little guy went down like a rock for his nap when we got home.  In fact, two hours later, he was still sleeping like a baby and I commissioned my little brother to wake him up so that we’d be able to put him down for bed later during the day.

Of course, when he woke up, the little guy just had to go outside, which was a good thing as the dada and I were working outside anyways.  So I got Charles in a bathing suit, slathered some sunscreen on him, put his hat on his head and sent him out on the balcony.  Since it was quite hot outside, I made a small “pool” for him with a large plastic box which I set down at the bottom of the stairs leading up to the balcony.

Oh boy, he was so happy!

I  mean, besides being outside, with toys he was also in some water and was able to observe his father working on the vegetable garden.  He stayed in for over an hour before wanting out.  I suspect it had something to do with the very heavy diaper he was sporting (yeah, I forgot that he had a disposable diaper on when I let him get in his “pool” – not my best moment lol).

After getting changed again, he was ready to help out with the gardening.

You can just see him push with all his might to get the wheelbarrow moving, but it would not budge.  Of course, after all that hard work, he needed a break and came back towards the house asking for some juice.

Soon enough, it was time for supper and the whole bedtime routine and for the first time in many weeks, the little guy did not chatter for an hour before falling asleep.  He was out like a light in no time!

I hope you all had a great weekend and happy Memorial Day weekend to my American friends!

Ten Thought Tuesday

TTT

1.  I wanted to post about it when it happened, but I passed the one year mark in blogging a little over a week ago.  I’m really happy because blogging has allowed me to connect with some really wonderful people.

2.  There’s a million thoughts coursing through my head these days and about as many drafts in my draft folder, however, I’m struggling with blogging these days.  Perhaps it’s because I’m tired and in need of my Christmas break.

3.  I just went shopping!  Actually took some time for myself and bought some clothing!  I guess starting a new job in January gave me the motivation to go (I’ve been meaning to buy a couple of new things for months now, but I hate shopping for clothes).

4.  We had quite the snow storm last weekend, it was awesome to wake up to 35cm of snow!

5.  It’s been freezing since the last snowfall though, around 35 (Celsius) below with windchill.  Brrrr.

6.  This week, we’re having pork tenderloin with a mandarin glaze and slow-cooked baby back ribs.  It is going to be YUMMY!

7.  I had a nice romantic dinner with my partner on Saturday evening.  We went out for fondue.

8.  I’ve finally sent out a package that’s been sitting around on my kitchen table to a friend.  It’s not going to get there in time for Christmas, but it’s ok because she’s not expecting to receive anything 😉

9.  Speaking of Christmas, I’ve got all my gifts ordered, but some of the things I got from Etsy haven’t arrived yet.  Probably stuck at the border…

10.  The little guy is really awesome at walking now.  He is getting more and more confident (and quicker lol) and rarely crawls now.  It’s crazy to think that just one year ago all he could do is cry, fill his diaper, nurse and sleep!

Happy Tuesday everyone!
