Ten Thought Tuesday: March 21st

TTT

  1. I want to take the time to thank three amazing bloggers for some award nominations.  Valerie, Cheila and Tami nominated me for the Liebster, Cramm and Blogger Recognition Award respectively.  I haven’t had time to post yet, but I’m working on them!
  2. I just realized that Elliot hit the 9 month mark yesterday.  How did that happen?
  3. Today, we’ve got a packed morning.  We’re in need of changing the windows to our house so my husband and I are going window shopping (quite literally ha!) after driving the kids to daycare.
  4. Tomorrow is Elliot’s 9 month well visit.  I really love his doctor (who’s actually not a pediatrician but my GP).  She’s fantastic and has taken Charles and Amélie as well.  I am very happy because I’ve never been satisfied with the previous pediatrician.
  5. Last weekend, Charles went to a sugar shack with my sister and her boyfriend.  He slept over at her place on Friday evening, then, the next day, took the subway and a coach bus to get there.  He was ecstatic because he loves the guy so much!

Hard to tell who’s happiest to be there!
  6. I just ordered a steam mop to replace the Swiffer and traditional mop we have.  I am ridiculously excited over the purchase and can’t wait to try it out.  I’m certain it’ll make my life a lot easier.
  7. On Sunday I ran my first transition run.  Considering I ran twice as long as I should have by accident, it went really well.  I was following the advice to run at 180 strides per minute, but will have to tone it down as it is too quick to be a sustainable pace for me currently.  I have to say though, my calves were on fire yesterday and they’re still sore today.  I’m eager to see how today’s run will go.

Notice the funky shape of the shoes? That’s what makes them so comfortable! No more scrunched up toes.
  8. I’m not sure what I want to eat for supper tonight.  What are you guys eating?
  9. I had my first taste of matcha tea on Sunday.  It was peach-flavoured, it was iced and it was yummy!  I’m seriously considering buying some to make at home.
  10. Over the weekend, we went to the library to get some new books.  I’m so happy because I’m rediscovering my love of reading.  I picked up the second tome of the Deathnote manga.  What are you currently reading?

Ten Thought Tuesday: March 14th

TTT

1. Well, it’s close to bedtime, but I’m finally getting around to writing my TTT post!

2. I just got back from a run.  My husband encouraged me to go despite the crappy weather (I’m like 3 minutes driving distance to the gym).  I’m pretty sure that it’s because he doesn’t want me in the kind of mood I get into when I don’t go out for my run.

3. Elliot is now very mobile.  Besides doing a zombie crawl like his big sister did when she started to get mobile, he can now push himself up to a seated position when he ends up on his tummy and is pulling himself up to a kneeling position whenever he can.

4. I want to sincerely apologize to Mother Nature for assuming that Spring was on its way.  This morning, I was greeted with this sh*t.

5. Over Spring Break, we had a blast.  My husband was even able to get a couple of days off and we went to the Ecomuseum with the kids.

6. Kids can sleep in very weird positions.  Amélie in particular is always funny to look at when she’s sleeping.

7. Talking of naps, Charles needs less and less of them.  Though I know he rarely sleeps during nap time, he always  goes to his room for quiet time.  He always brings some “friends” with him.

A couple of books for nap time!

8. I’m really happy, because I’ve managed to read a couple of books this month.

9. My vacuum cleaner has been having a lot of trouble lately.  I realized that I’d never cleaned the filters since buying it.  Oops!  The vacuum works like a charm again!

10.  Post run selfie with a chocolate cookie, because I totally deserved it!

Ten Thought Tuesday: Late

TTT

  1. Yes, yes, I know.  Technically, I should have posted this yesterday, but my spring break so far has yet to be “springy” or “breaky”, so I’m posting today.
  2. I’m now 14 weeks along and though the energy has returned (hey, my house actually almost doesn’t look like a tornado went through it anymore!) and the nausea is dissipating (no diclectin for the past week!), I still can’t stand the smell of meat cooking…
  3. The little guy is sick today.  He’s got a stuffy nose and is rather miserable.  He is so conked out that he fell asleep in my arms at 10:30 this morning as I was walking with him from his room to the living room (about 20 steps).  He slept until 11h45 in my arms (I actually took the time to appreciate it and soak it in) and I was able to put him down for a nap at 2pm!  Usually, he just naps from 1pm – 2:30pm.
  4. Since my daycare is closed all week, I haven’t had any time to work on the assignment for the masters course I’m doing.  But my mom, who also teaches and thus is on spring break, has kindly accepted to let the little guy sleep overnight at her place and look after him tomorrow so that I can get back on track.  Yay!
  5. Yesterday, Charles and I went to my grandparents’ place with my mom.  So cool to ha four generations in the same household!  We had a very good time.  (J’vous aime les GPs!)
  6. This evening, we have an appointment at the bank to renegotiate the terms of our mortgage.  We’re not sure if we’re going to go for a short term (3 years) or for a longer term (10 years).
  7. Last week, the little guy helped me make some fettuccine!  He was so happy to help mix the ingredients and knead the dough and he loved it so much that he ate two platefuls at supper (I seriously have no idea where he puts all the food he eats sometimes…).
  8. I’m debating whether I should hire a doula or not for Peanut’s birth.  I’m currently working on a post about this and am hoping to get it up by next week.
  9. My partner is officially back in town (which is great!), but income tax season is starting so he’ll be working six days a week soon (which is less great) for a couple of months.  Oh well, that’s what happens when you decide that you want to live with an accountant 😉
  10. I discovered that Little Dude likes pink grapefruit.  I was peeling one for myself and he asked for some.  I figured that he’d try it, spit it out and that would be the end of it.  He tasted, grimaced, took the piece out of his mouth, put it back in and then asked for more over and over again.  He ended up eating nearly half of the grapefruit that I had meticulously prepared for myself!

Hope everyone is having a good week!

TTT: February 25th Edition

TTT

  1. I had an interesting brain fart today.  You see, I was working from 6 to 8 and my brain convinced me that if I left for work at 6:45 I would be a-ok!  Yeah, didn’t work out very well lol.
  2. I think this is a sign that I am in dire need of a break!
  3. Did I mention that I am VERY eager for spring break to start?  😛
  4. The highlight of my day was hearing Peanut’s heart for the first time!
  5. Little Dude has officially mastered going down the stairs on his belly.  He is also now able to go down normally as long as he holds my hands.
  6. I am SO ready for winter to be over!  Please bring the warm air!
  7. I shouldn’t complain though, a lot of the snow has melted and we *have* had a wonderful snow-filled winter.
  8. If anyone is interested, I am still looking for some guest bloggers.  If you’re looking for inspiration, I have a list of subjects that I would love to have covered here (I think).
  9. Has anyone watched a great (non-romance) movie recently?  I’m looking for suggestions to fill my break with 😀
  10. That’s all my brain can muster for tonight.  I think I’m going to go watch an episode of Bones and then try to sleep the whole night in my bed.

Ten Thought Tuesday: Februrary 18th Edition

TTT

  1. Less than two weeks to Spring Break!  I.  Can’t.  Wait.
  2. For tonight’s supper, I’m hesitating between hot dogs, grilled cheese sandwiches and smoked meat sandwiches.  I know, I know, not the healthiest foods, but that’s what the little peanut has decided upon and let’s face it, who am I to argue with my hormones?
  3. Tomorrow I have to get my blood drawn.  Wish me luck!  The last time I ended up lying down on a bed with ice packs in various spots and a blood pressure cuff around my arm.  (Don’t worry, it won’t happen again.  I know that I need to be lying down when I visit the vampires… 😛 )
  4. I’m toying with the idea of leaving WordPress.  Ever since I’ve changed up my blog and put up the nifty “contact me” page, I’ve received quite a few advertisement proposals…which I’ve had to turn down because WordPress doesn’t allow third-party ads.  And since my premium account expires in about two months, I need to start thinking about what I want to do.
  5. I think I’ve found a good way to add proteins to my son’s breakfast (because lets face it, when I work, there is just no way I am going to start doing eggs for breakfast).  I found some hemp at Bulk Barn the other day (33g of protein per 100g!).  After using it in his cereal and smoothies for a couple of days, he hasn’t had any adverse reactions!  YAY!
  6. I think I might go back to the amusement center with Little Dude this weekend, unless we have an awesome weekend and can play outside.
  7. Speaking of Little Dude, he never ceases to amaze me.  He is now able to go down the stairs by himself (under strict surveillance) and he’s been wanting to help me dress him for the past week or so.  Crossing my fingers for this to continue ’cause dressing a screaming and squirming toddler is no easy task.
  8. I’m giving a presentation with a co-worker at one of the schools I work at this Friday on technological aids for students with learning disabilities.  I just need to work the bugs out of the PowerPoint presentation and I’m all set.
  9. By the way, does anyone have a good suggestion of a program that helps correct English (not just spelling/grammar errors, but sentence structures as well)?  The built-in corrector that comes with Word, just doesn’t cut it with my dyslexic ESL students.
  10. After being unsure about the Dexter series, I am now in love with it and glad I stuck with it!

How is your Tuesday going?
